Annie Johnson started “Project Annie” eleven years ago to feed the needy in her local community at the holiday time. On average she feeds 1850 people. Since starting the program she has provided over 17,000 hot meals. She continues to collaborate with service organizations, local churches, and businesses, which donate food items, volunteers, and resources to assist Project Annie. The community in which Project Annie is located now recognizes that location as a corner of hope. Since starting the Project Annie, Annie has noticed an increase in unwed teenage mothers. She has spent many hours with these teens acting as a “sounding board,” listening to their concerns, assisting them in adapting to the new challenges of being a new mother.
